 KETAMINE

Ketamine, 2-(2-chlorophenyl 11)-(methylamino)-cyclohexanone hydrochloride.

AKA: Ket,K,Vit K and Special K

Description

Ketamine is a general anaesthetic with analgesic properties quietly used by physicians and veterinaries. It blocks the nervous path without depressing the respiratory or circulatory functions. It's produced by Parque Davis as "Ketalar"and it's sold to veterinaries as 'Ketaset or Ketalar"

The anaesthetic state Ketamine produces characterizes by deep analgesia, loss of consciousness and normal pharyngeal-laryngeal reflexes. This anaesthetic state has been denominated:"Dissociative Anaesthesia"

Ketamine is used on surgical procedures such as:eye, ear, nose and mouth operations including dental extractions-anus and rectum minor surgery-circumcision-cardiovascular surgery-cesarian and regular deliveries.

----It have been administered to children and elders while their blood pressure, heart and respiration were monitored.

Is difficult to compare K to other drugs but like PCP is a arylcyclohexylamine although a lot safer and of shorter duration than PCP.

Dr. Karl Jensen born in New Zealand and with a Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Pharmacology and trained as psychiatrist have conducted experiments with Ketamine to induce the NDE (Near Death Experience). No other psychedelic can recreate a NDE as Ketamine.

A NDE can be precipitated by low oxygen, low blood flow and temporal lobe epilepsy. This cause and excessive flow of glutamate (an excitatory amino acid used by a large quantity of neurons as their neurotransmitter to connect with other areas of the cerebral cortex-glutamate is involved in cognitive processes as:thinking, memory and perception.) to be liberated on the NMDA (N-methyl-D-aspartate)receptors. This cause exito-toxicity which destroy brain cells. When this happens Ketamine like chemicals are released as protection. This chemicals attach to some receptors blocking the glutamate flow. Ketamine works attaching itself to the PCP (PHENCYCLIDINE)receptor.

Some of the NDE's features:

  • analgesia
  • time suspension
  • feeling of intense peace
  • clarity of thought
  • detachment from the body
  • NDE have been divided in 5 phases:

    1. feelings of peace and happiness
  • detachment from the body
  • travel trough tunnels
  • a bright light
  • entering the light
  • Only 60% of the people that have had a NDE have experienced the first phase and 10% the fifth. Administration of 50-100mg of Ketamine can induce the five phases and like with the regular NDE people assure the reality of the experience.

    PRECAUTIONS

Persons in whom elevated blood pressure can be hazardous should avoid using K. And overdose of K can depress your respiratory system but this is rare. Most of K overdoses have been followed by a long but complete recovery, even though doses larger than the recommended should be avoided. Some of the few side effects are:anorexia, nausea, vomiting(which do not always happen)and elevated blood pressure and pulse.Sometimes when you take a large dose you fall in a K-hole which is trance like state and is extremely difficult to move or talk(this happened to me once in a club and since i had a "babysitter" it wasn't a bad experience.

    SET and SETTING

Is not recommended the use of K on public places like clubs; you'll be semi-sedated which means that you won't have control of what happen around you (a friend of mine was on a park while tripping on K and this guy came and started to touch her and she couldn't even talk, she was lucky her friend was around on time).Another reason is that people and noises can turn your trip into an unpleasant one.

You will need somebody (sober) by your side, preferably with enough knowledge about K and it's effects. Music improve the trip but it most be listened on low volume. Slow music like Ambient or New Age is recommended(you turn sensitive to noise).Since K can produce nausea or vomit get prepared so you won't have to walk to the bathroom.

    Other recommendations are:

  • Thin light
  • A comfortable place where you can sit or lay on your back.
  • since moving or communicating will be difficult you should prepare yourself (like if you were going camping) before consuming K.
  • Some people have told me that Ketamine mixes well with other drugs creating a whole different experience (i only tried it with X), although that's not recommended.

    EXPERIENCE

    DOSES

  • Intramuscular- From .4mg-lb to 1mg-lb. IM administration of K most be slowly,at least in a 60 seconds period.
  • Nasal- 1.0mg-lb to 2.0mg-lb. Many people that use cocaine and try K have had an overdose because they have sniffed the same amount. K dose is a lot smaller than cocaine.
  • PREPARATION

Ketamine only comes in liquid. You get the powder by gently boiling the solution. A few seconds after it start boiling it turns into a white and brittle crust which you pulverize. For oral use you mix the measured dose of the powder with a cup of any juice. Some people (like me) don't like Special K for clubbing unless they ingest it with Ecstasy. Some other mix it with pot, which we call MaryK or with Cocaine, which we call CK.
